On a night when several players made their debut for Canada, teenager Alphonso Davies made history.

Canada names 40-man GC roster

The 16-year-old entered Tuesday's friendly against Curacao in the 53rd minute, becoming the youngest player in Canadian national team history. A Ghanaian-born Liberian refugee, Davies completed his Canadian citizenship requirements last week, and was immediately called into head coach Octavio Zambrano's roster.

Playing as an attacker in a 4-3-3 formation, Davies made an impression in his 37 minutes of play. He came close to scoring on two occasions, both first-time strikes that forced strong saves from Curacao goalkeeper Eloy Room.

Davies also drew a penalty in the 86th minute after a pacy run down the left flank, but teammate Junior Hoilett could not convert the subsequent spot kick.

The Canadians went on to win the match 2-1 on goals by Manjrekar James and Anthony Jackson-Hamel.
