Ghana returnee Mubarak Wakaso is apparently making the most of his comeback to the Black Stars, judging by coach James Kwesi Appiah's remarks.

The Alaves midfielder had been left in the cold since Appiah took over as Black Stars boss in May.

However, a shortage on options in Ghana's defensive midfield position ahead of Sunday's clash with Egypt in the 2018 World Cup qualifying has forced the 57-year-old to reconsider the Tamale-born.

"He [Wakaso] has been impressive so far and I think he is up to the task. He is doing so well and that is good," Appiah told Ghanasoccernet.

"He's committed, training very well, shows a lot of discipline and I have had no complaints about him.

"For me, I don't only look at the performance of the player on the field but also his commitment level, discipline, punctuality at training, readiness to play and whether he's a team player and ready to play for me.

"If he continues like this, he can be one of the players I'll be looking at next year."

Until now, Wakaso's last involvement with the Black Stars was at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in January/February.

He made his full international debut in a 2013 Afcon qualifier against Malawi in 2012.

He has since gone to play at the 2013, 2015 and 2017 Afcon tournaments as well as the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil.
