Terence Crawford moves up a weight class as he challenges Israil Madrimov for the WBA super welterweight title. The interim WBO belt is also on the line on a fight card in California that is part of Riyadh Season.
Crawford (40-0) has fought for gold since 2014. He is one of two male fighters to become undisputed in two divisions. “Bud” last fought a year ago, decimating Errol Spence Jr. to become king of the welterweights. Now, the pound-for-pound star looks to take over the 154-pound division by force.
Madrimov (10-0-1) had a stellar amateur record before winning over 300 fights before turning pro. The Uzbek faced tough competition right when he turned pro, not taking the easy road to the top. He dismantled Magomed Kurbanov in March to win WBA gold.
With seven wins via knockout, “The Dream” looks to defy the odds and hold onto his title.

"It's a fight against the toughest possible fighter and also all the obstacles around the fight," Madrimov said to Forbes. "All the people talking who's this guy with 10 fights, he doesn't belong there and this and that. That's not something that bothers me. I'm mentally very stable about it and I know that if I'm given an opportunity then I deserve it, and I know what I had to go through to get here."
