Top Rank's Bob Arum says unpaid fees to Pacquiao are being dealt with image

Manny Pacquiao taking to his Instagram account Monday and threatening to sue Top Rank over unpaid fees was definitely heard loud and clear.

That's because Top Rank chairman Bob Arum told ESPN on Tuesday that the payment issue was being dealt with.

"We read the Instagram post and [Top Rank attorney] Harrison [Whitman] handled it with Pacquiao's attorney, and it looks like everything will be resolved," Arum told ESPN.

So, what triggered the non-payment issue in the first place?

Arum told ESPN that Pacquiao didn't sign and return the right contract for his July fight against Lucas Matthysse.

Pacquiao began his IG post by congratulating Arum's Top Rank for signing a seven-year deal with ESPN to keep boxing on the Worldwide Leader in Sports, but the post quickly took a turn when Pacquiao said that he has still not received the U.S. rights payment for the Matthysse bout, which was broadcast on ESPN+ on July 15. With that, Pacquiao announced that he was suing Top Rank over the "non-payment" and would "attempt to restrict my future rights."

It appears that Arum and Top Rank don't want any legal smoke with the boxing legend, nor the bad PR that would come along with it, as a resolution is seemingly drawing near.
