Signing a multi-fight deal with Matchroom Boxing, Subriel Matias is ready to compete in massive fights. His first order of business with Eddie Hearn is to defend the IBF super lightweight title in his home of Puerto Rico against Liam Paro

Matias (20-1) is on a five-fight win streak, winning the IBF title in 2023. The 32-year-old competes in Puerto Rico for the first time since 2019. All his wins have come via knockout, making Matias a dangerous and often avoided fighter. A dominant win in front of family and friends could result in unification fights against some of the best at 140

It is Paro’s (24-0) first fight in Puerto Rico and first time competing for world gold. The Aussie has 15 wins via knockout, winning two straight fights via the power punch. Paro is ready to defy the odds and present a challenge to Matias.

“We’ve worked on some game plans, Alfie (Di Carlo) has the best boxing IQ in the game, I won’t share too much, but obviously, I’m not going to stand a trade with the guy,” Paro said. “That’s what he’s banking on, but my boxing IQ is up there as well, and we’re going to box the guy. If it has to be a fight, it can be a fight too, I’ve got the dog in me. I’ve been lucky to win my other fights comfortably but I’ve got that in me, and I’m ready for anything.

“It’s a world title fight, and you shouldn’t expect anything but a hard night’s work, I’m ready for a 12-round war.”
