At 25, Shakur Stevenson has become a hot commodity in boxing. He will look to add to his growing legacy on September 23. Inside the Prudential Center, Stevenson faces Robson Conceicao. 

Stevenson was set to defend the WBC, WBO, and The Ring junior-lightweight titles, but was stripped of the belts when he missed weight for the fight. 

A silver medalist in the 2016 Olympics, Stevenson made his pro debut in 2017. He won the WBO featherweight title in 2019 against Joet Gonzalez. Moving divisions, Stevenson won the interim WBO junior-lightweight title against Jeremiah Nakathila in 2021. Later that year, he beat Jamel Herring to become the regular champion. 

In his last fight in April, Stevenson beat Oscar Valdez via unanimous decision to win the WBC and The Ring junior-lightweight titles. 

“For all the kids, you’ve got to keep trying to be great. Keep striving to be better. I want to be an example for you all. I want to make sure that I do my part,” Stevenson stated. “I’m going to come in shape and ready to fight on September 23. I’m going to put on a show for the kids, and for the city of Newark. I want to give you all a hell of a performance. I’m going to do my part, and I’m going to come in shape. I appreciate the support. I’m locked in, and September 23, I’m going to put on a show.”

A 2016 Olympic gold medalist, Conceicao made his pro debut that year. In 2021, he lost to Oscar Valdez for the WBC title. Conceicao rebounded in January with a unanimous decision win over Xavier Martinez.
