Jaime Munguia and John Ryder, two fighters on different journeys, face off on January 27. The fight and undercard action airs on DAZN worldwide.
Munguia turned pro in 2013. He won super welterweight gold when he beat Sadam Ali in 2018 for the WBO belt. Moving to middleweight and then super middleweight, Munguia only fought once in 2023, beating Sergiy Derevyanchenko in June. The 27-year-old has won 33 fights via knockout.
Ryder turned pro in 2010. He won the interim WBA super middleweight title in 2019 against Bilal Akkawy. Callum Smith beat him that year to retain the WBA and The Ring belts. "The Gorilla" rebounded with wins over Daniel Jacobs and Zach Parker. In his last fight in May, he lost against Canelo Alvarez for the status of undisputed super middleweight champion.
At 35, Ryder knows the end is near. He is taking things one day at a time and is ready for one more shot at gold.

"It’s clear I’m at the tail-end of my career," Ryder told Boxing News. "Like I said earlier, I just want to have the biggest and best fights. I’m not here for a long time; I’m here for a good time. Each fight could be your last. I want to fight the biggest and the best, and I don’t want to be going out in six-and-eight-rounders. I want to go out in a big fight against a big name in a 12-round contest."
The Sporting News will provide all you need to know about the fight, from channel, time, and card.
