Fabio Turchi claims WBC International title with first-round KO over Sami Enbom image

Fabio Turchi picked up the vacant WBC International cruiserweight title with a first-round knockout victory over Sami Enbom at the Tuscany Hall in Florence, Italy on Friday night.

The "Stone Crusher" lived up to his nickname by flattening Enbom 74 seconds into the first round with a devastating left hook to the body.

The unbeaten southpaw now has a record of 17-0 with 13 knockouts and is steadily making his way towards a world title opportunity in a division that is wide open since the undisputed champion, Oleksandr Usyk, announced he will step up to the heavyweight division to face Carlos Takam on May 25.

Also, in action was 31-year-old Alessandro Riguccini, who blew away Ivan Alvarez (28-10-1, 18 KOs) with a first-round TKO in a spectacular performance. Riguccini improved his record to 23-0 with 19 wins via knockout to claim the interim WBC silver welterweight title when he unleashed a barrage of punches, pinning Alvarez in the corner and forcing him to take a knee. But that didn’t save the Mexican fighter, as Riguccini subsequently came back at him to finish the job by dropping him two more times before the referee stopped the fight.
