DAZN has partnered with film producers Unrealistic Ideas and Film 45 to produce a boxing documentary series titled "40 Days: Golovkin-Rolls." The series will go behind the scenes of Gennadiy "GGG" Golovkin and Steve Rolls' preparations for their June 8 middleweight fight.
Boxing fans will get an artful personal look at former middleweight world champion Golovkin (38-1-1, 34 KOs) and undefeated challenger Rolls (19-0, 10 KOs) before they step into the ring at Madison Square Garden. GGG Promotions and DAZN formed a six-fight global partnership to ensure Golovkin fights the remainder of his career on the streaming platform.
Unrealistic Ideas, the non-scripted production company formed by world-renowned actor and producer Mark Wahlberg, Stephen Levison and Archie Gips, and Film 45 were selected to be the executive producers for "40 Days: Golovkin-Rolls" in part because of their personal connections to boxing and their track record of vivid storytelling.
"It takes a lot of hard work to put on the Big Drama Show,” Golovkin said. "'40 Days' was in training camp from start to finish. Boxing fans will see it all, as (trainer) Johnathon Banks and I prepare for war at the Mecca of Boxing, Madison Square Garden."

The documentary series title stems from the approximately eight-week timeline of intense training for the fight. "Golovkin-Rolls" follows up on the first two editions of the series: DAZN partnered with LeBron James and Maverick Carter of UNINTERRUPTED for the Saul "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Daniel Jacobs middleweight title clash, and then teamed up with Meek Mill and Jay-Z’s Roc Nation for the June 1 heavyweight clash between Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr.
“'40 Days' is a series that links world-famous boxers with gifted storytellers to give fight fans a unique view of the arduous eight-week preparation for a fight," said Jamie Horowitz, DAZN's executive vice president of content in North America. "When we visited GGG at his camp in Big Bear (Calif.), we asked him whom he thought would best tell his story — he immediately asked for (Unrealistic Ideas and Film 45)."
Additional projects from the partnership will be announced in the coming months, DAZN said.
