David Benavidez will face Kyrone Davis on Saturday at the Footprint Center in Phoenix. Showtime will broadcast the fight.
Benavidez (24-0, 21 KOs), who is in his eighth year as a professional fighter, is The Ring magazine's No. 1-ranked super middleweight contender to Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, who became the undisputed champion in the division with his 11th-round knockout against Caleb Plant last week.

First, Benavidez will face Davis (16-2-1, six KOs), who stepped in on 16 days' notice to fight after Benavidez’s original opponent, Jose Uzcategui, tested positive for steroids. Saturday’s bout is no longer a WBC and IBF title eliminator, which would have strengthened Benavidez’s credentials for a potential Alvarez fight.
