Garcia (37-3) is a former lineal super lightweight champion and WBC welterweight champion. He hasn't competed since 2022, but the 36-year-old believes that could help him against the 41-year-old Lara.
“You can expect to see the same Danny Garcia. I feel good, I been feeling good sparring, been feeling good training. I really feel like nothing’s really changed, if anything the two-year layoff helped me," Garcia told Fight Hype via Bad Left Hook. "You know, my body feels recovered, I have no injuries, my mind feels good, my body feels good so I feel like we’re going to see a great Danny Garcia that night.”
Lara (30-3-3) is a two-division champion and former Canelo opponent, having held gold at super welterweight and middleweight. He beat Ramon Alvarez in 2019 for the WBA title, and after two years away from the ring, Lara took out Michael Zerafa in March.
The fight card will also feature former champions Caleb Plant (competing for interim gold), Rolando Romero, and Stephen Fulton.
