The penultimate weekend of 2023 contained one of the most talked about events of the boxing year with the likes of Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder and Dmitry Bivol featuring on the Day of Reckoning card.
Following the star-studded bill in Riyadh on December 23, the start of 2024 was always going to be relatively quiet, with the light heavyweight title bout between Artur Beterbiev and Callum Smith taking centre stage in Canada next weekend.
As usual, though, there is still action for fight fans to look forward to and tune in for during the first weekend of the new year.

Is there any boxing on today?
The most high-profile fight on Saturday, January 6 sees the return of Vergil Ortiz Jr. to the ring for the first time in more than 518 days.
The former welterweight, who is one of the most promising members of Golden Boy's stable, takes on Fredrick Lawson at super welterweight.
Issues with rhabdomyolysis — a potentially fatal medical condition involving damaged muscle tissue releasing proteins and electrolytes into the blood — have hampered Ortiz's progress, and he wants a far more productive 2024 to begin with victory against Lawson.
Ghanaian Lawson has won three and lost two of his last five fights, including wins over Collinson Korley and Estevan Villabolos in 2023. Victory over Ortiz would put him rather than the American on course for a title shot.
Fight schedule for Saturday, January 6 2024
