One of the biggest upsets in YouTube boxing took place in September 2022, when AnEsonGib beat Austin McBroom via TKO. Following early setbacks in the bout, AnEsonGib stormed back and beat McBroom, forcing him into a boxing hiatus.

In a twist of fate, McBroom’s return to boxing will be against AnEsonGib on April 22. Both influencers face off in a quarter-final matchup of the Kingpyn Boxing tournament.

The bout takes place inside the OVO Arena Wembley.

This is a layered rivalry. In 2021, AnEsonGib competed on the undercard of McBroom's YouTubers vs. TikTokers boxing event against Taylor Holder. That contest was initially declared a majority draw, but AnEsonGib claimed that he was "robbed" and the result was overturned, handing him a unanimous decision win.

Still holding a grudge, the two settled their differences in the ring. McBroom lost his first pro bout, which he was favored to win. Before he can get his revenge, here is a recap of the first bout between the two, explaining how it all went down.

What happened in the first AnEsonGib vs. Austin McBroom fight?

When the first round started, AnEsonGib got knocked down following combinations from McBroom. They exchanged shots following that knockdown, with McBroom landing lefts and counterblows.

In round two, another left landed and AnEsonGib started to back up. While AnEsonGib clipped him with a left hook, McBroom ran him back with a straight left and jabs.

Round three saw McBroom continue to be the aggressor. He scored with a big hook and jabs through the defense of AnEsonGib. However, things took a turn for McBroom, when he was nailed by combinations, and he went down following a counter shot. Attempting to recover quickly, he was sent to the canvas again following a right.

The crowd was shocked as McBroom, in control for most of the bout, appeared perilously close to defeat.

AnEsonGib did not let up after smelling blood. He dropped McBroom at the beginning of round four and refused to let his opponent breathe. More jabs and rights dropped McBroom again, and a left hook-right hand dropped him for a fifth time.

Given how much damage AnEsonGib had absorbed, this was a shocking turnaround.

Referee Jack Reiss, who was generous at times in giving McBroom a chance to fight back, had seen enough. AnEsonGib was announced the winner at 2:36 of round four.

Both influencers have not fought since their Los Angeles encounter.
