Considered the next Floyd Mayweather at one point, Adrien Broner has had quite a run in and out of the ring. From winning multiple titles to teaming up with Don King after a long absence, Broner’s career has been like a rollercoaster.
The 33-year-old has faced some of boxing’s best, but in his most recent fights, he's fallen way short of victory. The ex-champ now hopes that King can return him to the spotlight.
Broner joins forces with the legendary promoter for a Miami-based fight card on June 9. He faces unheralded contender Bill Hutchinson, who is on a 10-fight win streak.
“I am very focused in my training and for June 9,” said Broner. “I’m going to fight this guy who hasn’t lost in seven years. Come June 9, we got some stuff in store. We’re not looking at this guy as a stepping stone, but I have set some goals, and everyone knows I don’t set my goals low.
"I want to become world champion once again under the Don King stable. First, I’ve got to get thru Hutchinson. Then we are going to pursue the 140-pound title. Then I want to become undisputed. It all starts June 9, and I am going to in there to put in a show.”

What titles has Adrien Broner won?
Broner is a former WBO super featherweight, WBC lightweight, WBA super lightweight, and WBA welterweight champion.
What is Adrien Broner’s boxing record?
Following an amateur record of 300-19, Broner turned pro in 2008. He currently has a 34-4-1 record and has won 24 fights via knockout.
“The Problem” started his career on a 28-fight unbeaten streak, with one no-contest in his sixth fight. In 2011, he won the WBO super featherweight title, beating Vicente Martin Rodríguez via knockout. After missing weight for a fight against Vicente Escobedo, Broner moved to the lightweight division, where he beat Antonio DeMarco for the WBC belt.

After an attempted fight against Ricky Burns failed to materialize, Broner moved up two weight classes and took on Paulie Malignaggi for the WBA welterweight title. Broner won via split decision, claiming the title and a career-high $1.5 million purse. He lost the belt in his next bout, a unanimous decision defeat to Marcos Maidana. Though he expressed interest in a Maidana rematch, that fight never came off.
Instead, Broner moved down to super lightweight. He lost his fourth fight at that weight to Shawn Porter but recovered by beating Khabib Allakhverdiev for the vacant WBA super lightweight title. That was the last time Broner held gold, as he was stripped of the belt for missing weight before facing and eventually knocking out Ashley Theophane.

Following that, Broner defeated Adrian Granados but went 1-2-1 thereafter. He lost to Mikey Garcia in 2017, fought Jessie Vargas to a draw in 2018, and Manny Pacquiao dominated him in 2019. Down on his luck following a 25-month layoff, Broner edged Jovanie Santiago in February 2021 via 12-round unanimous decision.
Broner attempted to fight in 2022 but backed out of a bout against Omar Figueroa Jr. due to mental health issues.
