Vikings vs. Lions odds, props, predictions: Minnesota to end ATS skid in NFL Week 18

The Minnesota Vikings square off with the Detroit Lions in NFL Week 18 action on Sunday, hoping to secure the final NFC Wild Card spot. Live Vikings vs. Lions odds have Detroit as favorites, while Minnesota can be had for on the moneyline. The OVER/UNDER line is .

For the Vikings to get into the playoffs, they need to defeat the Lions, and the following also has to happen: the Bears to defeat Green Bay, the Cardinals to beat the Seahawks, and the Falcons to overcome the Saints or the Panthers to win against the Bucs. They need a lot to go right, but the last week of the season has had crazy outcomes in prior years.

Meanwhile, the Lions have already secured the NFC North crown, but still have a chance to land the second seed in the NFC playoff picture.

The Vikings are 7-6-3 against the spread (ATS) this season but have failed to cover in the last four consecutive. The Lions are 11-5-0 ATS and have covered four of the last five and three consecutive.

Vikings vs. Lions odds: Point spread, moneyline, total for NFL Week 18 clash

Here's the latest NFL betting odds for Vikings vs. Lions:

This is the second time in three weeks these teams will face off. The Lions escaped the first matchup with a six-point win, thanks to the Vikings QB Nick Mullens tossing four interceptions. However, he still finished with 411 passing yards and two touchdowns.

Passing defense has been a weak spot for the Lions all season long. They allow 240 yards through the air per contest and have surrendered 26 total touchdowns (sixth most).

Meanwhile, despite playing QB carousel this year, the Vikings still own one of the most potent passing offenses in the league, thanks to Justin Jefferson's presence. Their passing game plays a large part in the tight spread despite Detroit clearly being the better team this year.

The Vikings defense has been solid overall, but they have struggled to stop the run as of late. In their contest just a couple of weeks ago, the Lions’ two-headed monster in the backfield had its way.

Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery finished with 135 combined rushing yards and three touchdowns. In their last outing, Minnesota allowed 120 rushing yards to Packers RB Aaron Jones, which is a large part of why they lost the game and no longer control their playoff future.

Vikings vs. Lions predictions

The Lions escaped with a six-point win against Minnesota on a day when Mullens tossed four interceptions. That led to a time-of-possession difference of nearly 17 minutes in the Lions’ favor. Four interceptions aren’t common for any QB and won’t likely be duplicated.

Without the multiple short-field possessions and vast time-of-possession difference, the Vikings defense should be able to keep the game low-scoring enough for Mullens and company to help steal this one on the road.

Prediction: Vikings
