Texas Tech vs. TCU odds, props and predictions for Big 12 men's college basketball.
AP

The Red Raiders sit alone in first place in the Big 12, but the Horned Frogs are only 1.5 games back. A win for Texas Tech will give them further cushion over one of their top competitors. At the same time, TCU needs a win to stay in contention for a Big 12 Championship, as a loss will drop them 2.5 back of the Red Raiders.

The Horned Frogs have a 12-8 record against the spread this season and have covered their last two. That includes their last contest, which they won over Baylor (105-102) as a four-point underdog. The TCU offense has been really good lately, hitting the OVER in three of their last four.

The Red Raiders are 10-9 against the spread this season and have won and covered their last two straight. Texas Tech won their last matchup as a 3.5-point underdog over Oklahoma (85-84). Similar to TCU, the Red Raiders offense has been fantastic, hitting the OVER in three straight.

This is the first of two matchups for the Red Raiders and Horned Frogs this season. Here is the Texas Tech vs. TCU betting news, player props and a betting prediction for tonight's Big 12 matchup. The game tips off at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.

Texas Tech Red Raiders betting news

The Red Raiders rank 17th on Kenpom for adjusted offensive efficiency, but their defense only ranks 67th for adjusted efficiency. Their defense has sometimes let them down this season, as they depend on their offense to outscore opponents in big games.

Their high-scoring backcourt duo has led to a strong offense for Texas Tech. Pop Isaacs leads the team in scoring at 17 points per game and is second in assists at 3.3 APG. His partner, Joe Toussaint, leads the team in assists at four per night and is second in scoring at 13.4 PPG. Neither is very efficient, but they have gotten plenty of volume to score a lot throughout the season.

Their two forwards do not get as many opportunities but are each double-digit scorers in their own right. Devan Cambridge averages 10.5 points and Warren Washington 10.3 points per contest; each shoots well over 50% from the field. In many ways, the already good Texas Tech offense could be even better if they got Cambridge and Washington more opportunities, considering their scoring efficiency.

TCU Horned Frogs betting news

The Horned Frogs season was on the verge of collapse after a 2-3 start in Big 12 play. TCU turned it around quickly, winning their last two games against Oklahoma State and an insane triple-overtime win over Baylor in their last game. Now, with a lot of momentum on their side and back in the top 25 of the AP poll, TCU is trying to win their third straight.

The Horned Frog offense ranks 26th for adjusted offensive efficiency and 39th for adjusted defensive efficiency on Kenpom. Their pace of play is much faster than the Red Raiders, too, ranking 65th for adjusted tempo. Jameer Nelson Jr. is coming off a monster game and a season-high, scoring 30 points in their win over Baylor.

If Nelson can let his last game be a springboard for the rest of the season, it could help expand the ceiling for TCU. It would give the Horned Frogs a second big-time scorer to pair with Emanuel Miller (16.8 PPG), who also leads the team in rebounds (6.0 RPG) and is tied with Nelson in assists (3.0 APG).

Texas Tech vs. TCU prediction: TCU wins 40-minute battle defending home court

The Horned Frogs and Red Raiders each are on winning streaks, playing some of their best basketball of the season. TCU has the advantage of home court. Coming off a triple-overtime win, they have a lot of momentum. This game should be very close, but the scoring efficiency is better for the Horned Frogs, and that will give them an edge.
