Texas vs. Oklahoma odds, props and predictions for Big 12 men's college basketball.
AP

Two of the biggest rivals in college sports face off tonight when Texas visits Oklahoma. Both programs have NCAA Tournament-worthy resumes at this point in the season, with the Sooners entering the matchup ranked No. 11 in the country.

The Longhorns are 13-5 but have had their worst stretch of the season by far over their last five matchups. Texas has only gone 2-3 while covering the spread just once. The offense has been fantastic in that stretch, with the OVER for total points hitting in each game; at the same time, that gives insight that their defense has been underwhelming in the defeats.

The Sooners are in a similar position, going 2-2 in their last four, and have covered only in their two wins. Oklahoma is 11-7 against the spread has been the better of the two teams, as Texas is 5-13 ATS. With each team struggling recently, tonight's could change the course of their respective seasons.

Here is the Texas vs. Oklahoma betting news, player/team props and a betting prediction for tonight's rivalry game — and one of the last times the two foes face off as a Big-12 matchup. The game tips off at 7 p.m. on ESPN.

Texas Longhorns betting news

The Longhorns lean on their offense, which ranks 33rd on Kenpom for adjusted efficiency. Their defense, though, has been a weak point, ranking 76th for adjusted efficiency. Texas lives and dies trying to outscore opponents, which worked early in the season, but it has started to hurt them as they have gotten into Big 12 play.

If they can get some defensive improvements, they have the star players in Max Abmas (17.7 PPG) and Dylan Disu (14.7 PPG). Behind them, they have a strong supporting cast, with their third- through fifth-leading scorers between 9.8 and 12.6 PPG. For Oklahoma to defend its home court, the guy they need to focus on is Abmas.

The senior guard is an elite scorer and already has three games with 25-plus points and one 32-point game this season. He's one of a handful of college basketball players who can single handedly take over a game. His transfer to Texas has slightly dropped his overall scoring average but has increased his efficiency and assist numbers.

Oklahoma Sooners betting news

The Sooners' advanced metrics are better than the Longhorns, boasting the 47th-ranked offense and 18th-ranked defense for adjusted efficiency on Kenpom. After two defeats, the Sooners have bounced back to win their last two contests, including an upset win as a 3.5-point underdog against Cincinnati.

The winner of tonight's contest against Texas will come down to who can dictate the play style. The Sooners' offense does not score at the pace the Longhorns do. Their defense is significantly better, though, and that could make for a frustrating night for Texas. It could come down to getting a few stops and key baskets in crunch time. Oklahoma will need a team approach on offense to take advantage of a below-average Longhorn defense.

Javian McCollum (14.9 PPG) and Otega Oweh (14.1 PPG) share the scoring load, but Oklahoma sometimes struggles to get scoring outside their top two players. Interestingly, Oklahoma has not lost any of the four games where McCollum and Oweh were not the Sooners' leading scorers. Playing at home and in a rivalry matchup, if the Sooners can get double-digit points from a third scorer, they will have an excellent chance to get a huge win.

Texas vs. Oklahoma prediction: Sooners defend home court in rivalry game

Expect this contest to be a 40-minute back-and-forth battle. The game will come down to which team can get some stops in the final five minutes of the game, along with some crucial baskets. Oklahoma has the better defense and has the home-court advantage. In a rivalry game, they'll likely find another player to help McColloum and Oweh score down the stretch.

Pick: Oklahoma
