The Friars and Pirates could use a few big wins over the coming weeks to help their NCAA Tournament chances. Both teams have six losses, but Seton Hall has been better in conference play, with only two losses to Big East opponents. That is indicative of their strong play after a below-average start.
The Pirates are 9-10 against the spread but have won five of their last six, covering the spread four times. The Friars are the opposite — they had a much stronger start to the season starting 11-2. Providence has only won once in their last five games but has covered the spread in three of those matchups. Overall, they have a 10-8 record against the spread this season.
Here is the Providence vs. Seton Hall betting news, player props and a betting prediction for tonight's Big East matchup. The game tips off at 6:30 p.m. on FS1.

Providence Friars betting news
The Friars boast nonconference wins over Wisconsin (72-59) and Georgia (71-64), plus conference victories over Marquette (72-57) and Butler (85-75). So what has happened that has caused them to slip up and lose four of their last five?
An injury to one of their best players, Bryce Hopkins, is the primary reason Providence has struggled. They have only won one game without him, and they have clearly miss his production in several close defeats. Providence will have to figure it out because Hopkins is unfortunately out for the season with a torn ACL.
Providence will have to lean on Josh Oduro in the meantime. While he did not have his best performances in the first two contests without Hopkins, he has been really good in the most recent two with 20 and 17 points. He'll need to step up in order to get the Friars back on track.

Seton Hall Pirates betting news
The Pirates have won eight of their last 10 games, covering the spread in six. They have been much better late in games recently, having won all but one decided by single digits.
The most significant piece to the turnaround has been the play of Kadary Richmond (16.4 PPG), the team's leading scorer. He also leads the team in assists (4.9 APG), steals (2.2 SPG) and ranks second in rebounds 6.9 RPG). In the Pirates' first 11 games, Richmond only scored 20 or more points twice. In the last eight, he has scored over 20 points four times.
He has not been the only player to provide significant contributions, as Al-Amir Dawes and Dre Davis have also been averaging double digits scoring. Dawes has scored over 20 points in four of the last five Seton Hall games. Davis has been very consistent, scoring in double digits in 11 of the last 12 matchups.
Note that one big boost to the Pirates' consistency is that their top three scorers, all guards, are seniors. They have tons of experience and have seen many challenging situations, equipping them to handle important matchups like tonight against Providence. Do not be surprised when one of the three guards hits crucial game-winning shots down the stretch to lead the Pirates to a win.
