Oklahoma vs. TCU odds, props and predictions for Big 12 men's college basketball.
AP

TCU is desperate to avoid a 0-2 start in conference play and will look to defend its home court against the No. 9 Oklahoma Sooners on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the Sooners are 1-0, and Big 12 play and only have only lost to a highly ranked Tar Heel squad. Oklahoma has covered nine of 14 games, but since their loss to North Carolina, the Sooners have only covered once in their last three.

TCU started 7-0 before a challenging stretch, going 4-3 in their last seven matchups. What's impressive, though, is the Horned Frogs have won two of three but covered in all three. Their one loss was in their last contest against Top 10-ranked Kansas. One trend to keep an eye on: The Sooners and Horned Frogs have each hit the UNDER in two of their last three.

Let's look at the live odds for Wednesday night's Big 12 game as Oklahoma travels to TCU. TV coverage will be on ESPN2 with a scheduled 9 p.m. ET tipoff. Here's the latest Oklahoma vs. TCU betting news, player props and a betting prediction.

Oklahoma Sooners betting news

The Sooners have had a fantastic start to the season with a 13-1 record, but it is about to start getting more difficult. Kenpom's adjusted strength of schedule rankings has the Sooners ranking 296. With nonconference play over, Oklahoma starts a gauntlet of their most challenging opponents in the next stage of the season. Even with an easy schedule, the Sooners still rank well for adjusted offensive efficiency (44th) and are even better for adjusted defensive efficiency (12th).

While they boast one of the best defensive units in the nation, what's impressive is the depth of this Oklahoma team. The Sooners go eight players deep, each averaging over six points per game. They have all had multiple games in double figures. They may be one of the most diverse offenses in the country — even if you slow down three or four of them, there are another three or four ready.

Part of what makes them so difficult to defend is their fantastic three-point shooting. Each of their top four scorers shoots at least 38% from three. Leading scorer Otega Oweh shoots an insane 68.4% from three, and while his attempts are limited, he makes just under one a game. Similar to their spread-out scoring punch, the team's rebounding is also a group effort. Five players average at least 3.7 RPG, but with no player grabbing more than 5.9 a night. They may end up struggling against teams with elite rebounders.

TCU Horned Frogs betting news

The Horned Frogs come in with a contrasting style. TCU ranks 40th for adjusted offensive efficiency and 41st for adjusted defensive efficiency and will push the pace, ranking 37th for adjusted tempo. The Horned Frogs played their best game of the season last time out.

A 2-point loss on the road to Kansas is as good a loss as a team can get. If TCU puts together another complete game against Oklahoma like they did against Kansas, they very well may upset the Sooners. A big reason the Horned Frogs took the Jayhawks to the wire was because senior guard Trevian Tennyson posted a season-high 24 points.

When playing an opponent that outmatches you, teams need role players to step up and have big games alongside their stars. That is what Tennyson did, going 6-of-8 from three and 9-of-12 overall. Emanuel Miller, the team's leading scorer (16.3 PPG), also had a strong night with 20 points. It is even more impressive how close TCU kept it with Kansas, considering their second-leading scorer JaKobe Coles (11.4 PPG) missed the contest with a foot injury.

He was back at practice for the first time since missing the last two games for TCU, making his availability status for tonight's game favorable. Not only does he shoot second-best on the team at 38.7%, but he is also the second-leading rebounder at 5.4 RPG. If he does play even in limited minutes, it would be a big boost for TCU to finish the job and upset a top-10 opponent.

Oklahoma vs. TCU prediction: Tightly contested game with upset potential

There is a strong chance that TCU will finally pull off a win after coming close against several highly ranked opponents this season. The Horned Frogs are odds favorites at home. Still, with a multi-possession spread, don't expect them also to cover.

Pick: Oklahoma
