Man, you were feeling great if you bet the Eagles to be the last undefeated NFL team heading into Sunday's late afternoon window of Week 6 games.

The 49ers had just lost 19-17 to the Browns after rookie kicker Jake Moody missed a 41-yard field goal that would have kept San Francisco unbeaten.

The Eagles were a 7-point favorite versus the Jets, and ended up controlling the game throughout. Until Jalen Hurts threw a late pick that Tony Adams returned inside Philly's 10-yard line.

Breece Hall's 8-yard TD run proved to be the winning score in New York's improbable 20-14 win. This is when things got interesting depending on varying sportsbook rules governing the NFL's last undefeated team. It's a good reminder to always know the house rules on NFL wagers.

Circa Sports, BetMGM differ on payouts for last undefeated NFL team

Las-Vegas based Circa Sports paid out only on the Eagles, after the 49ers lost to the Browns in the 1 p.m. ET window.

Circa Sports Director of Operations Jeff Benson clarified his book's policy in a tweet.

"For grading purposes, the timing of a team's first win and first loss will be to the minute according to the NFL.com."

Hypothetically, if the Eagles lost to the Jets in the 1 p.m. window after the 49ers fell to the Browns, the payout would have been the same under these rules.

That wasn't the case at BetMGM, where dead heat rules applied. BetMGM PR Data Analyst John Ewing told Sporting News that the bet on the NFL's last undefeated team "goes by week and not by time of games. So, 49ers and Eagles bets both win but payouts are half of listed odds."

Both games were surprise outcomes based on moneyline betting trends at Tipico Sportsbook, which saw lopsided action on both the Eagles and 49ers.

  • 93% of betslips had Eagles on moneyline
  • 7% of betslips had Jets on moneyline
  • 85% of betslips had 49ers on moneyline
  • 15% of betslips had Browns on moneyline

Circa Survivor Contest update

Double-digit favorites go 2-1 ATS NFL Week 6

The Chiefs, Dolphins, and Bills all entered NFL Week 6 as double-digit favorites. Kansas City eked out a cover against the spread as a 10.5-point favorite in its 19-8 win over Denver on Thursday Night Football.

The Dolphins, who went down 14-0 to the Panthers early, roared back to win and cover as 14-point favorites, 42-21.

The Bills failed to do their part as 15.5-point home favorites in an ugly 14-9 win against the Giants. New York led 6-0 at the half, but failed to convert a TD heading into halftime when Saquon Barkley was stopped at the goal line as time ran out. The Giants also had a chance to score with an untimed down from the 1 at the end of the game, but Tyrod Taylor's pass for Darren Waller fell incomplete.
