Seahawks pick 'em over Panthers
Even with a new coach and QB, the Panthers appear headed to another typically disappointing season. It's too early to write Carolina off after two games, but Frank Reich's team has serious problems scoring.
The Panthers had nine points off the leg of kicker Eddy Piñeiro until the Saints went into prevent mode in the final minutes of Monday Night Football. Bryce Young found Adam Thielen for a short TD pass and two-point conversion to make the 20-17 loss to New Orleans seem much closer than it was in reality.
Seattle bounced back nicely from its opening week loss to the Rams. The Seahawks pulled out a 37-31 win over the Lions in OT when Tyler Lockett grabbed a six-yard TD pass from Geno Smith and jitterbugged his way across the goal line.
Seattle has yielded 30 and 31 points in their first two games, respectively, but there's no difference maker on Carolina's offense akin to D.J. Moore last season. The Panthers are tied for last in the league with 13.5 points per game and close to the cellar in yards per game (260).
It's too much to ask Piñeiro to keep up with Seattle's top trio of offensive performers -- Lockett, DK Metcalf, and Kenneth Walker III -- on his own. Tease this down to a Pick 'Em and take the Seahawks.
Vikings +7 over Chargers
Who do you think needs this game more? The Vikings and Chargers, both playoff teams a season ago, are 0-2 to start the year. But Minnesota's NFC North foes -- Bears, Packers, and even Lions -- aren't capable of cruising away to a division title like the Chiefs in the AFC West.
This isn't looking like the year Los Angeles leapfrogs Kansas City to win their division, eh? Critics are already calling for the dismissal of head coach Brandon Staley. After the Bolts surrendered more than 500 yards of offense in a Week 1 loss against Miami, they found a way to squander a "W" in overtime against Tennessee.
Salt in the wound: There is reportedly no timetable for RB Austin Ekeler (ankle) to return to LA's starting lineup, either. Joshua Kelley didn't do much in relief against the Titans, carrying 13 times for just 39 yards.
Minnesota heads into this game after a "mini bye" following its TNF loss in Philadelphia. Kirk Cousins, still not to be confused with the king of primetime games any time soon, exploded for 364 passing yards and four TDs in the 34-28 loss to the Eagles.
Justin Jefferson will have a great opportunity to post his third straight 100+ yard receiving game of the season against the Chargers. New TE T.J. Hockenson has also become a major target for Cousins with 15 catches and a pair of TDs in his first two games as a Viking. Fun fact: Minnesota has covered five straight games ATS against Los Angeles.
Tease the Vikings up to a full TD in a game they should win outright.
NFL Week 2 teaser pick review
The Jags +9 got us off to a good start in Week 2 in a 17-9 loss to the Chiefs. The Jets couldn't hold up their end of the bargain +15.5 in a 30-10 loss to the Cowboys. LOSS
