The end of an era appears imminent in Golden State. Three months into the season, and the Warriors are outside looking in of the playoff picture at 19-22 and hope for a turnaround doesn’t seem likely. They’ll face off with a Kings team that has seemingly lost some of its luster as well. They currently sit seventh in the Western Conference, but they are in the middle of a letdown based on expectations coming into the season.

Despite current struggles for both teams, they are still two of the most electric offenses the NBA has to offer, and they will square off tonight at 10 p.m. ET. They split the last two matchups between each other, and both contests were determined by a single point. This matchup is one of the most entertaining on the calendar tonight and offers plenty of betting value for sports betting fans.

In the last eight games between the two, Steph Curry is averaging 33.6 points and De’Aaron Fox is averaging 28, so you’re going to want to tune into this one. Below are the live odds for the game tonight and additional betting information, including prop picks.

Kings betting news: Defensive woes at the forefront of current letdown season

The Kings have lost four of their last five games. Defense has been a challenge for them as of late, as they surrendered an average of 125 points per contest in the losses. That won’t do them any favors against the Warriors, who are still a top 10 scoring team. However, they are at least still scoring well, averaging 118 points in those recent losses.

The Kings are getting elevated offensive performances from Domantas Sabonis and Keegan Murray in January. Both are averaging monthly season highs in points per game and field goal percentage in January.

Sabonis’ January stat line is 21.6 points per game, 14.2 rebounds, and 9.1 assists on a shooting split of 65.6%, 60%, and 73.9%. Murray’s January stat line is 18 points per game, 6.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 0.2 steals. His shooting split is 52.3%, 39.1%, and 65%.

However, Fox is having a down month offensively. His offensive output, combined with their defensive struggles are two of the biggest reasons for their struggles. Fox averages 27.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 5.6 assists on 46.5% from the field and 39% from deep on the season. In January, his averages are 21.7 points per game, 3.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists. He is also shooting just 41.7% from the field and 35.2% from deep this month.

They will need a much better performance from him to avoid their fifth loss in six games tonight.

Warriors betting news: Green returns to the lineup, Curry finally getting offensive help

Draymond Green recently returned to the Warriors’ lineup after a month hiatus due to suspension for ongoing behavioral issues on the court. Although the sample size has been small, his defensive impact is already evident for Golden State.

They allowed an average of 125 points per game in the last 10 games before his return, surrendering performances as big as 141, 133, and 129 in that stretch, in which they went 3-7. With Green back on the court, they were 1-1 and held the Hawks to less than 120.

Curry has struggled the last two months carrying the offensive load for the team. He has averaged 24 points a contest in December and January, but he has shot just 41% from the field in both months. That’s not common for Curry, but it is continuing. However, he is finally starting to get help from his running mates in Klay Thompson and Jonathan Kuminga.

Both are putting up monthly season highs in points, field goal percentage, and three-point percentage. In January, Kuminga is averaging 18.7 points per game on 59.3% from the field and 36% from deep. Thompson is chipping in 20 points on 45% from the field and 42.5% from deep.

Kings vs. Warriors prediction

Although stars from both teams are struggling to score as efficiently as they are capable of, offense is far from both teams’ biggest problem. It’s clearly defense. With Green back in the lineup, the Warriors are now more equipped to get the critical stops when they need them, which should help them to defend their home court.
