Duke vs. Virginia Tech odds, props and predictions for ACC men's basketball.

The Blue Devils survived a thrilling matchup Saturday with Clemson to stay within two games of first place in the ACC. Their reward is a two-day turnaround and a road game at Virginia Tech. The Hokies are not world-beaters but are a solid team at 13-7 on the season. VT handled Georgia Tech by 24 over the weekend.

The Hokies are 10-10 against the spread this season but have been playing some of their best basketball, winning outright and covering in their last three. They have also hit the OVER in three straight contests during their best three-game offensive stretch of the season.

The Blue Devils have a 9-10 record against the spread this season, and while they have won two games in a row and five of their last six, Duke has only covered once over the period. The offense has been strong, hitting the OVER in three of their last four. The Blue Devils sit second in the ACC, 2.5 games back of their rivals North Carolina, who they play after the Hokies. A win tonight will be key to their chances of staying in contention for the ACC Championship.

Here is the Duke vs. Virginia Tech betting news, player props and a betting prediction for tonight's ACC matchup. The game tips off at 7 p.m. on ESPN.

Duke Blue Devils betting news

The Blue Devils pulled off a miracle and somewhat controversial win on Saturday over Clemson. Several key foul calls late in their contest against the Tigers went Duke's way, helping secure a win. While their offense was not the best it had been all season, it was still strong, which is no surprise as they are the 12th-ranked offense for adjusted efficiency on Kenpom.

Their defense could use some improvements but is above average, ranking 37th for adjusted defensive efficiency. What was impressive, though, was the support of Duke's role players in their win over Clemson. They proved capable of keeping Duke in a challenging matchup and winning even when their star players did not have their best game.

Kyle Filipowski has been the Blue Devils' best player all season, averaging 17.7 PPG, 8.7 RPG and 1.9 BPG on 49.8% shooting from the field and 37.9% from three. The sophomore center was 2-of-8 from the field, 0-for-3 from three and 5-of-11 from the free throw line and fouled out. Other Duke players stepped up while he had one of his worst games of the season.

Mark Mitchell (12.8 PPG) had 13 points, Tyrese Proctor (11.1 PPG) had 18 points\ and Jared McCain (12.5 PPG) had 21 points. Each player not only scored above their average, but each also shot 50% or better from the field. Duke is so deep and talented that even when their star has a tough game, they can still beat almost any opponent.

Virginia Tech Hokies betting news

The Hokies face a challenging matchup against the Blue Devils. Virginia Tech ranks below Duke on Kenpom for adjusted offensive (63rd) and defensive (52nd) efficiency. One area where they are much stronger is they have played the 43rd-ranked strength of schedule. So, while they may not have Duke's talent, they won't be scared, as they have faced some tough challenges this season already.

The Blue Devils may also be ripe for an upset because they just survived one upset scare and face their rivals next. With only one day of rest between games and on the road, Duke has more to overcome than Virginia Tech in many ways. Meanwhile, the Hokies just have to overcome the talent gap.

Virginia Tech has been playing some of its best basketball and has several star players of their own capable of big-time performances. Leading scorer Sean Pedulla has four games with at least 26 points, two of which were over 30. If he can have one of those types of performances, the Hokies very well could pull off the upset.
