Colorado vs. USC moneyline odds, market report: Betting public still backing Deion Sanders' crew to upset USC image

Although some of the hype surrounding Deion Sanders' Colorado Buffaloes has simmered following the team's first loss of the season, bettors at BetMGM are enticed by CU's +800 odds to upset USC in Week 5.

According to BetMGM, 95 percent of the bets and 89 percent of the Colorado-USC moneyline action is coming in on the home underdog. Despite getting outgained 522-199 in a 42-6 loss to Oregon last week, bettors still have faith that "Coach Prime's" crew can regroup and put together a three-phased effort to shock the world.

Is it wise to join those bettors and hop on the Colorado moneyline train this weekend?

Should you bet Colorado moneyline against USC?

As we broke down in our Colorado-USC betting preview, we think USC not only wins outright in Boulder but also covers the current 21.5-point spread. Colorado's offensive line woes are a major cause for concern against an improved USC defensive line, one that's capable of generating natural pressure by rushing just four.

Colorado will have to win the turnover battle and do its best to limit USC to field goal attempts in the red zone; otherwise, we could be in store for another game that's all but over at halftime.

That said, when it comes to betting the moneyline for Saturday's Colorado-USC matchup, most bettors would instead take a chance on a team at 8-1 rather than lay -1400 on the favorite. Colorado's already won outright in a game in which they were priced as three-touchdown underdogs (Week 1 vs. TCU), so the betting public thinks there's a chance their Colorado moneyline ticket could cash in another similarly priced game.

If you're typically a moneyline bettor, we'd refrain from betting on either side, as we don't think Colorado has enough offensive firepower to go score for score with USC. We also have no interest in betting on USC at -1400.

Sometimes, the best bets are the ones you don't make, and unfortunately, this game's moneyline doesn't present an actionable betting opportunity.
