Bill Belichick next team odds: BetMGM, DraftKings offer markets for legendary coach's next move

Where will legendary NFL head coach Bill Belichick land next?

After parting ways with the Patriots last week, Belichick has subsequently interviewed with the Falcons. At BetMGM, Atlanta was the favorite among all listed teams at +250 as of Tuesday. DraftKings listed Atlanta as co-favorite along with "any other NFL team" at +125.

But "Will not be Head Coach of any team during Week 1" notably topped the BetMGM board at +125, and was +250 at DraftKings. Belichick is coming off a 4-13 season at New England, where the Patriots won six Super Bowls during his 24-year tenure.

Let's examine Bill Belichick next team odds, and see where he's most likely to land -- if anywhere.

Belichick, 71, is arguably the NFL's greatest coach of all time. He spent the first five years of his head coaching career in Cleveland. With an overall record of 302-165, Belichick is just 26 wins shy of Don Shula's NFL all-time record 328 victories.

How to bet on Belichick next team odds 

Given his age, Belichick's not likely to join any team that finds itself in rebuilding mode. That takes teams like the Commanders, Panthers, and Giants out of the equation.

Here are the most likely landing spots -- or perhaps better stated the best possible scenarios for Belichick -- moving forward. 

Falcons (+250 at BetMGM, +125 at DraftKings)

Atlanta plays in the NFL's worst division. A move to the NFC South would give Belichick a chance to win division titles and get back to the playoffs right away. 

Atlanta does have quarterback issues as they lack a true No. 1 after Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke shared the role this past season. Remember John Madden's quote: "If you have two quarterbacks, you actually have none." 

Arthur Blank is highly regarded among NFL team owners, though. The Falcons could shoot to the top of a weak division with a new QB and Belichick on the sidelines.

Former Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski said on FOX's NFL pre-game show over the weekend that the Falcons "are coming in hot" for Belichick. 

Chargers (+450 at BetMGM, +1500 at DraftKings)

Los Angeles, based on its offensive talent, was the NFL's most disappointing team at 5-12. But Justin Herbert remains a franchise quarterback to build around.

Could Belichick help the Chargers overcome Kansas City's eight-year stranglehold on the AFC West? Not with the parts and pieces currently on defense.

Belichick is a defense-oriented coach, though, and capable of constructing winning game plans with the right talent in place.

Jim Harbaugh has already interviewed with the Chargers, and DraftKings offered a betting market on his next team.  

Any other team (+600 at BetMGM, +125 at DraftKings): Cowboys

Dallas is an intriguing destination. The Cowboys just shocked the pro football world by losing to the Packers in inglorious fashion, 48-32. The game wasn't as close as the final score indicated with Green Bay storming out to a 20-point lead at halftime.

Much has been made of head coach Mike McCarthy's lack of success in the playoffs. He's 0-3 in his four seasons with the Cowboys, who've finished 12-5 in the regular season the past three years. It's hard to imagine him returning for the final year of his contract. 

Could Belichick co-exist with team owner Jerry Jones? Belichick served as de facto GM in New England. It's hard to imagine Jones fully yielding draft and trade responsibilities to Belichick.  

Betting analysis on Belichick's next team

Belichick has nothing left to prove, but he's a football lifer and likely doesn't want to go out on such a sour note. These betting markets are fueled by rumors and innuendo.

It's novel to see them now at legal and regulated sportsbooks after Jim Harbaugh next teams odds were offered at DraftKings. We'd suggest sticking to betting on actual NFL competitions, but would roll with the chalk play here if forced to do so.

Plus, the irony of Belichick possibly becoming a member of the media is impossible to resist.
