Tyler Reddick heads into Indianapolis Motor Speedway as the betting favorite to win Sunday's Brickyard 400, the first NASCAR Cup Series race on the famed 2.5-mile oval since 2020.

Reddick's odds were shortened to favorite status after the No. 45 Toyota earned the pole in Saturday's qualifying session.

Denny Hamlin, who opened as the betting favorite, will start on the outside of row 1. Hamlin was adjusted to the second betting choice for Sunday's race.

From 2021-23, NASCAR held events on the IMS road course. The return to oval racing at Indy bodes well for Hamlin, who was consistently strong at this track before the switch. Hamlin's No. 11 Toyota was probably the best car last week at Pocono Raceway, a track that handicappers believe is the closest comparison to IMS, although he finished second to Ryan Blaney.

Kyle Larson is the third betting choice on the Brickyard 400 odds board, followed by Hendrick Motorsports teammates Chase Elliott and William Byron.

NASCAR Brickyard 400 betting tips

Since this is the first NASCAR Cup race on the Indy Motor Speedway oval since 2020, we're a bit hesitant to put too much weight on past performance at this track. After all, the field is very different from the one that competed here previously, and the drivers are running a different car on the circuit.

The most useful comparisons from recent races are on Pocono and Michigan -- as they're both big, flat tracks. Pocono -- aka the Tricky Triangle -- has two long straightaways, similar to Indy. Those long straightaways emphasize speed, and that's a primary reason the betting market loves Hamlin in Sunday's Brickyard 400.

If you're looking for a driver at a longer price, though, give Martin Truex Jr. a look. While Truex's Brickyard results haven't been impressive, he has performed well at Pocono and Michigan and has the overall speed to win Sunday. The +1800 odds on the No. 19 Toyota are enticing.

Of course, betting the outright or "to win" market is just one way to enjoy NASCAR wagering. BetMGM has several other betting options for the NASCAR fan.
