Here is the late-week betting line for the Cincinnati vs. San Francisco game (via Bet365):

49ers (5-2 SU, 4-3 ATS) vs. Bengals (3-3 SU, 2-3-1 ATS)

  • Point spread: 49ers -4 (-110); Bengals +4 (-110)
  • Moneyline: 49ers -200; Bengals +170
  • Total: O/U 43.5

The 49ers and Bengals enter Sunday’s game at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara riding streaks in different directions. After winning their first five games, San Francisco has dropped their last two. Cincinnati won two straight before their Week 7 bye.

While the 49ers remain a top pick to win this season’s Super Bowl, they’ve been a little dinged up and the offense has played unevenly the past two games. Late in the week it was unclear if quarterback Brock Purdy would be able to play this weekend after suffering a concussion in the 49ers’ 22-17 MNF Week 7 loss to the Vikings.

WR Deebo Samuel is expected to miss another week as he heals from a hairline fracture in his shoulder. Star running back Christian McCaffrey left the Niners’ Week 6 loss against the Browns with an oblique injury, but returned and played well Monday, scoring both of the team’s TDs.

The Bengals appear to have righted the ship somewhat after starting the season 1-3, but they still don’t look like the team they were the last two seasons. Ja’Marr Chase had a breakout game in Cincinnati’s Week 5 win over Arizona (15 receptions, 192 yards and three TDs) but posted more average numbers in the Bengals’ last game. QB Joe Burrow’s play has been inconsistent; despite trending up the last two games, he looked lost again in the second half of the Bengals’ win over the Seahawks in Week 6.

Picks to consider:

  • Bengals to win: The 49ers are favored to win, but could this be the game the Bengals turn things around and go on a midseason run? Cincinnati started slow the past two years only to end up either in the Super Bowl or on the brink. It might be worth taking a chance on the well-rested Bengals to pull an upset.
  • Under on the total: Through their first five games, the 49ers averaged 33 points per game. That average has slipped to 29 points per game with the team’s two recent road losses. The Niners are especially good at Levi’s Stadium, scoring at least 30 in their three home wins. But with San Francisco coming off of a short week and dealing with some injuries on offense, the sturdy-of-late defense of Cincinnati (who’ve been averaging 16 points per game) might be able to keep their scoring lower than usual.
