With a new champion on the verge of being crowned, all eyes are on their performances. Given the star power and storylines of the matchup, the NBA Finals MVP odds market is set up to be one of the best betting markets of the series.

Jaylen Brown's NBA Finals MVP odds +700

The Celtics are the favorites to win the series. Since the 1984-85 season, only eight teams have won the NBA Finals after starting the season with odds of 10-1 or greater. The rest had preseason odds of 9-1 or better. This year, the Mavs' preseason odds were 25-1. If the preseason odds hold up, and the Celtics win the title, the best bet to win NBA Finals MVP could be Jaylen Brown.

Brown is averaging 25 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 14 playoff games on 54% from the field and 36.8% from deep. He has done this while often drawing the toughest defensive matchup on the court. Surprisingly, he has been the best player on the court for the Celtics and earned the Larry Bird Trophy as MVP of the East Finals.

If the Celtics are to hold on and win their first title with Brown and Jayson Tatum, the better bet for Finals MVP would be Brown, based on his juicy odds and how he has played so far.

Luka Doncic's NBA Finals MVP odds +200

Although underdogs, the Mavs are a very live threat to win it all. They have owned the best defensive rating in the league since the late-season trade that brought on PJ Washington and Daniel Gafford, both of whom have contributed significantly to their defensive shift. Combine their redefined defense with their electric offense, and it’s no surprise they have made it to this point.

With both Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving on the court, the Mavs produced a 120.3 offensive rating and went 23-9 in clutch games. Doncic’s play-making ability and scoring are key ingredients to the recipe.

Against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the best overall defense in the league this year, Doncic averaged 32.4 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 8.2 assists per game. He did so shooting 47% from the field and 43% from deep.

Additionally, Doncic is averaging 32.6 points per game against the Celtics since 2021. If that level of production continues for him against Boston, he could very well lead them to an upset, earning him Finals MVP.

Jayson Tatum's NBA Finals MVP odds +700

Tatum is the favorite to win the Finals MVP. His odds aren’t the most attractive, especially when you consider his play so far in the postseason. He is averaging 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game in the playoffs, shooting 44.2% from the field and 29% from deep. He is drawing the opposing team’s best defender on a nightly basis, and he isn’t producing like fans have grown accustomed this season. Fortunately for him, his teammates have stepped up to get them to this point.

He’ll see a hefty dose of PJ Washington and Derrick Jones Jr., who have been lights out in the postseason. Together, they held Anthony Edwards to a postseason low of 24.6 points per game on 43% from the field, and Paul George to 19.5 points per game on 41% from the field. The likelihood of multiple explosive performances from Tatum seems low given what they have been able to do to stars this postseason.

Kyrie Irving +1400

Among the stars taking the court in the Finals, Irving is the only player with a championship. He is the most experienced of the bunch and played a significant role in the Cavs’ historic comeback from down 3-1 against the Warriors in 2016. In that series, he averaged 27 points on 46% from the field and 40% from deep. He also hit one of the biggest shots in playoffs history with a big dagger over Steph Curry to seal victory in Game 7.

Additionally, he leads the Mavs in clutch scoring in the playoffs, and the regular season. In a tight game when Doncic is sure to draw the most attention, Irving is set up well to stockpile big plays when they matter most, which are essential to winning Finals MVP. With odds as high as +1400, Irving is definitely worth consideration.
