It has been a decade since Babe Ruth last appeared in a video game. While he was an unlockable character in "Backyard Baseball 09," fans will most remember him last from the popular EA Sports game "MVP Baseball 05." Ruth returns this year in the upcoming "MLB The Show 18."

The reveal comes from the game's first trailer:

Last year the big add was Ken Griffey Jr., who appeared on the cover. The roster of legends featured in "MLB The Show" has grown from the 30 that debuted in 2015 to a number that will be well in excess of 75 this year. The legends appear in the game's team-building mode, Diamond Dynasty, and as free agents who can be signed in Franchise Mode.

Other items of interest from the trailer include a revamped hitting engine with improved physics; additional crowd rituals (see the Judge's Chambers at Yankee Stadium); and new home run celebrations.
