Tim Cahill will play in the Socceroos' friendly against Brazil but Australia will be without captain Mile Jedinak and left-back Brad Smith through injury as they turn their attention to the Confederations Cup.
The Socceroos announced on Tuesday that Jedinak will miss both the clash with Brazil at the MCG and the World Cup warm-up event in Russia due to a niggling groin injury, while Smith was pulled out of Ange Postecoglou's squad on Sunday after suffering a hamstring strain against Saudi Arabia.
Jedinak out of Confederations Cup
Smith will be replaced by Alex Gersbach, who will join the squad in Russia, while uncapped midfielder Jimmy Jeggo will take Jedinak's spot.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Postecoglou explained that he would focus on getting game time into players who have had limited minutes over the past month against the Selecao.
Cahill is an obvious example, with the veteran forward having last played for Melbourne City in the A-League on April 23.
"We'll use the game to top up some guys who need some game time. A few of them their leagues finished a while back," Postecoglou said.
"Some will need 90 minutes, some only 45 probably so, others not playing at all.
"We'll use it as final preparation for the boys coming across for the Confeds Cup. It's making sure the whole squad's ready when we get over [to Russia]."
Other players that are likely to get an opportunity are goalkeepers Mitch Langerak and Danny Vukovic, plus uncapped winger Ajdin Hrustic.
But while Postecoglou remains focused on the Socceroos' upcoming games against Germany, Cameroon and Chile, he insisted his team can get a lot out of playing the world's number-one ranked nation.

"It's a great opportunity to test ourselves against one of the best. Any time that opportunity comes along, you want to make the most of it," he said.
"The key is to not get too caught up in the opponent and making sure you get something out of the exercise.
"And for us, when we play friendly games we try to push ourselves and measure ourselves and try play our football against the very best.
Speaking about 20-year-old Hrustic, who only made his senior club debut for Groningen at the start of April, Postecoglou said: "He's looking comfortable at training and I'm sure he's keen to get out there.
Hrustic savouring Groningen breakthrough
"It's his hometown and from our perspective he's one of the ones we'll look to get some game time into."
The match against Brazil will be the first of four serious tests of Postecoglou's new 3-2-4-1 formation, which has attracted a lot of criticism since he unveiled it against Iraq in March.
Australia were scratchy in their 3-2 win over Saudi Arabia last week even though they got the result they needed in Group B of Asia's World Cup qualifying.
But Brazil, Germany, Cameroon and Chile are all much stronger opposition than the teams the Socceroos have played so far with the controversial system, and their counterattacking ability will be a particular test for Australia after the Saudis had so much joy in that area in Adelaide.
Confederations Cup: A complete guide
The last time Brazil played the Socceroos was in 2013 when they triumphed 6-0 in a friendly in Brasilia - a game that was the beginning of the end for Postecoglou's predecessor Holger Osieck.
The Selecao also defeated Australia 2-0 at the 2006 World Cup, while the Socceroos overcame the South American giants 1-0 to win bronze at the 2001 Confederations Cup thanks to a late goal from Shaun Murphy.
