Rio Olympics 2016: Katie Ledecky pleased with 'hardest swim of the week' image

Katie Ledecky showed no sign of fatigue Monday from her world record-breaking exploits in the 400-meter freestyle Sunday as she cruised to a heat win in the 200 meter freestyle.

Ledecky won the second Olympic gold medal of her career on Day 2 at Rio 2016 with a sensational swim that saw her come home in three minutes, 56.46 seconds, five seconds clear of her nearest rival.

There was little time for the 19-year-old to relax, though, as she was back in action in the 200-meter heats Monday, an event not thought of as Ledecky's strongest.

She trailed after the first length but the American soon found her rhythm and came home fastest in a time of one minute, 55.01 seconds

"It was pretty hard coming off of last night," she said. "Just got a couple hours of sleep but I think that was probably going to be my hardest swim of the week so I'm glad it's over with.

"It (her stroke) feels good. I feel like every year at the big championship meet my stroke just feels better than it ever has and once I get going, it's hard to stop."
