Aliya Mustafina won gold in the women’s uneven bars individual competition on Sunday, with American Madison Kocian taking the silver medal. Popular American Gabby Douglas finished seventh.
Mustafina, of Russia, won the event with a 15.9. Kocian followed with the silver at 15.833. Germany’s Sophie Scheder took bronze with a score of 15.566.

The event ended a rough Olympics for Douglas, the star of the 2012 London games. Douglas finished seventh with a score of 15.066 in her final Rio event. She won a gold medal as part of the team competition but was the only American not to win a medal in an individual event.

Mustafina earned the bronze medal in the team competition earlier this week.
Kocian already has a gold medal as part of the Team USA ‘Final Five’ that won the team competition. Mustafina won the fourth gold medal for her country in the event.
