The Korean world No.1's recurve score is the first of 700 in history and eclipsed the previous record set by compatriot Im Dong-hyun at the last Olympics in London.
"I practiced more than everyone else, and I gave my best for the entire round," Kim said.
"Tomorrow there is a more important match. In terms of celebrating today, [I will do] nothing — I want to focus on tomorrow's match.
"I want to focus on the games now, but later maybe I'll get to enjoy Brazil."
