Matchday six of the Asia 2018 World Cup qualification will take place this week on Thursday and Friday, with six matches taking place altogether in Groups A and B.
Coincidentally, all six of the top-three teams in both groups will play away to a bottom-three side in this round.
In Group A, first-placed Iran (11 points) will play away to fifth-placed Qatar (5 points) at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium, Doha, in the only Asia WCQ round six match to be played on Friday. On Thursday, second-placed Korea Republic (10 points) will visit the Changsha Helong Sports Center to take on bottom-placed China (2 points), while third-placed Uzbekistan (9 points) will play fourth-placed Syria (5 points) at the Hang Jebat Stadium, Melaka, Malaysia.
And in Group B, group leaders Saudi Arabia (10 points) will play bottom-placed Thailand (1 point) at the Rajamangala Stadium, second-placed Japan (10 points) will take on hosts UAE, currently in fourth with nine points, at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium. Third-placed Australia (9 points) meanwhile will face fifth-placed Iraq (3 points) at the PAS Stadium, Tehran.
