Arsenal star Wilshere celebrates avoiding injury in ice-skating trip image

Jack Wilshere has mocked his own injury record at Arsenal following a festive day out with his family.

The England international has struggled to steer clear of the treatment table throughout his career, with regular spells taken in on the sidelines.

Wilshere has been left as frustrated as anybody by his inability to find a consistent run of first-team activity, for club and country.

He is, however, fully fit at present and prepared to poke fun at himself after returning from a recent trip to an ice skating rink unscathed.

Wilshere saw a broken leg bring a loan spell at Bournemouth to a premature conclusion in 2016-17, denying him the opportunity to see out an entire campaign on the south coast.

He has been welcomed back into the fold at Arsenal upon his return to Emirates Stadium, but is still struggling for regular game time.

Arsene Wenger has handed him just 11 appearances in all competitions, with those outings including just 65 minutes of Premier League football.

With his current contract set to expire in the summer of 2018, the 25-year-old has conceded that he may have to assess his situation when a potential opportunity to move on presents itself in January.

Wilshere told reporters in November: “I’ve been at this club for 10 years. I don’t have to say how much this club means to me, how good they have been to me.

“But, at the same time, the boss has got to be honest with me and I’m sure he will.

"I think we will have to talk about that [leaving in January] when it comes down to it.”
