EXCLUSIVE

Ajax prospect Daishawn Redan is set to snub interest from Manchester United and sign a new contract at the Dutch club, he has revealed to Goal.

CSL club confirms Rooney approach

The 16-year-old has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford and reports in December claimed that Redan had been spotted at United’s training ground ahead of a potential deal.

The Dutchman has been capped at Under-15, 16 and 17 level by his country, and has scored goal at each, leading to interest from United.

However, Redan has now revealed to Goal that he does not intend to move to the Premier League club, instead choosing to sign a new contract as he looks to break into the first-team in the Eredivisie.

“My parents take care of my business. The trust I have in them is the highest, so I don't have an agent, but I let them take care of it,” he told Goal.

“The club knows what I want and that is to get in the first team. I want to be the first-choice striker of Ajax. There is a contract coming my way here and I will definitely sign it."

RUMOURS: Rooney to quit Man Utd

However, Redan has confirmed the interest from United, and has jokingly suggested that he was ill upon hearing of their desire to sign him.

"If you know a club like Man United is interested, that only gives you confidence and you will do everything you can to get better. I know when I heard about the interest, I was sick that week and was in my bed,” he added. “Then I saw a lot of rumours on Instagram and other media."
