Bengaluru FC head coach Albert Roca has refused to give up hopes on his team's qualification from Group E of the 2018 AFC Cup.
The Blues are tied on points (9) with New Radiant who defeated them 2-0 in their last game. A superior head-to-head output has put the Maldivian club in the driving seat for progression to the next stage.
With nine points from four games so far, Super Cup winners will take on Aizawl FC at the Kanteerava Stadium on Wednesday.
"The last result was not one that we expected. It's our obligation now to win the remaining games. Qualification is not entirely in our hands, but as a team, we will not give up," said Albert Roca ahead of his team's fixture against Aizawl FC.
"We have two games to finish well and we're facing a team from India against our supporters, so we want to do well. Tomorrow (Wednesday) is a new challenge and I would like my team to change their mentality and to perform well."
Skipper Sunil Chhetri echoed his coach's thoughts and criticised the team's display in their last match.
"I don't think we turned up, as a team, against New Radiant in the Maldives. It was one of our worst performances this season. We sat down after the game and we couldn't come back with a positive apart from Mawia's performance in goal, so we want to show a reaction tomorrow (Wednesday)," said Chhetri.
"We're going to go there and try our best. I know that it's the last game of the season and I hope as many fans come because it's been a great year for us and we want to finish it at home, in front of them.
"The only thing we're looking forward to, as players, is a reaction. We can't guarantee a result or the points, but we want to do our best.
"I cannot make up any reasons for the previous result. I take responsibility as a captain, but it's just that we didn't perform well as a team. Sometimes, as players, we don't turn up and that's what happened," concluded the club's top-scorer.
