James Robinson gets a Hall pass.
The Jets were dealt a devastating blow in Week 7, when ascending star rookie running back Breece Hall suffered an ACL tear that ends his 2022 season.
Well, Jets general manager Joe Douglas didn't take long to find a replacement for Hall, trading a 2023 NFL Draft pick for James Robinson, who

Robinson put together an electric rookie season in 2020, rushing for over 1,000 yards and bursting on the scene as an undrafted free agent out of Illinois State. After the Jaguars drafted Travis Etienne in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Robinson was pushed down the depth chart (and maybe out of favor) with the former coaching staff.
Now, Robinson has a new home with a team that's eyeing a potential playoff spot in a few months.
Here's how the trade breaks down.
James Robinson trade details
The Jets made a very low-cost move to bring in Robinson on Oct. 24:
- Jets receive: Running back James Robinson.
- Jaguars receive: Conditional sixth-round 2023 NFL Draft pick (can turn into a fifth).
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the conditional sixth-round pick will become a fifth if Robinson rushes for 600 yards this season. Robinson is sitting at 340 yards entering Week 8. It's unclear if that's 600 rushing yards with the Jets, or 600 yards overall this season.
Robinson has already rushed for 340 yards and needs 260 more for the 6th to be a 5th.
Robinson is coming off an Achilles injury that he coincidentally suffered against the Jets in Week 16 of the 2021 season. Robinson has also been dealing with some "soreness," according to Doug Pederson, and is coming off a zero carry week in Week 7.
Jaguars coach Doug Pederson says RB James Robinson is dealing with knee soreness but is still a part of the offense: "I've got a lot of confidence in James. We're going to continue to find ways to get him on the field. ... We are better when both those guys are playing."

With Breece Hall out for the year with an ACL tear and meniscus injury, GM Joe Douglas didn't wait to bring in reinforcements to the running back room.
