Novak Djokovic can continue his charge towards a fourth successive Wimbledon title in the semifinals of the 2022 tournament — but that will be a secondary storyline for the home fans at SW19, who are desperate to see Cameron Norrie reach the final.

Despite being seeded ninth, Norrie's run to the final four has been a surprise from a player whose promise has only been matched by a career-best third-round exit in any Grand Slam competition.

Both players won draining thrillers in the semifinals: Djokovic recovered from losing the first two sets to beat Jannik Sinner before Norrie fell a set behind twice against David Goffin, taking the decider 7-5 in a gritty display.

Will Djokovic's 26-match unbeaten run at Wimbledon continue or can Norrie serve up a seismic surprise? The Sporting News explains how you can follow the action.

When is Novak Djokovic vs. Cameron Norrie?

The pair will play each other for a second time in their careers on Friday, July 8.

Play begins at 1.30 p.m. BST on Centre Court.

Novak Djokovic vs. Cameron Norrie head to head

Djokovic crushed Norrie in their only previous meeting, winning 6-2 6-1 in the ATP Finals in Italy in November 2021.

The 20-time major singles champion was greatly helped by claiming 76 percent of his points on service against Norrie, who won only 47 percent of his.

Norrie admitted his opponent had surprised him with the supremacy of his serving and had simply been too good for him.

Roared on by supporters whose energy he has fed off throughout the 2022 Championships, Norrie will hope that Djokovic fails to find his formidable range again when the huge underdog aims to join Roger Taylor, Tim Henman and Andy Murray as the only British players to have reached the final four at SW19 during the Open Era.

The 26-year-old newcomer to this stage can take encouragement from some of Djokovic's performances so far: Sinner took his sets against the six-time Wimbledon champion with reasonable ease before running out of steam as Djokovic hit top gear.

World number 104 Tim van Rijthoven also troubled Djokovic, taking the second set of their fourth-round match as part of a spirited display that endeared the little-known Dutchman to spectators.
