Iga Swiatek has won the women’s singles final at the 2022 US Open after defeating Ons Jabeur 6-2 7-6 (5).

The world number one started the match in fine form and won 12 of the first 14 points as she broke Jabeur early.

While Jabeur would break back, Swiatek broke the Tunisian two more times to wrap up the first set in just 30 minutes.

The second set picked up where the first left off as Swiatek broke Jabeur early and raced out to a 3-0 lead.

The star from Tunisia wasn’t going down without a fight though as she broke back and clawed her way to 2-3.

Swiatek responded perfectly to the set-back, however, as they continued to exchange breaks in a see-sawing second set.

Jabeur missed a golden chance to break Swiatek at 4-4 with the Polish star going on to win the set and match via a tie-break.

Swiatek lifting her first US Open title, the first Polish women to do so, and winning her second Grand Slam tournament of 2022 as she cements her place at the top of women’s tennis.

Jabeur’s search for a maiden Grand Slam title goes on and she’s now lost two consecutive finals on the biggest stage.
