The second Grand Slam of the year is underway as 2021 champions Novak Djokovic and Barbora Krejcikova head to Roland-Garros looking to defend their titles - although the latter has already been dumped out in the first round.
Rafael Nadal goes in search of an incredible 14th French Open triumph while Iga Swiatek, who is currently on a 28-match winning streak that includes five consecutive titles, is the heavy favourite to lift the women's trophy.
But just who is flying the flag for British tennis across the English Channel? We know there will be no Andy Murray in action with the 35-year-old opting to skip the clay tournament to better prepare for the grass-court season and Wimbledon to follow next month.
The Sporting News takes a look at the five British players competing in the singles tournament at the French Open, which begins on Sunday, May 22.

Which British players are at the French Open?
Emma Raducanu
US Open champion Raducanu headed into the tournament with plenty of uncertainty given her recent injury concerns. Raducanu retired in her Italian Open match with Bianca Andreescu due to a lower back injury last week, casting doubt on her French Open appearance. The teenager has won just seven times in 2022 and will be looking for a deeper run in the tournament than her second-round exit at the Australian Open. This will be Raducanu's first ever appearance at the clay-court major.
However, the world No.12 suffered defeat in three sets to Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich in her second round match on Wednesday, May 25. Raducanu overcame qualifier Linda Noskova in her first-round match in three sets.
Cameron Norrie
Norrie is the current British men's No.1 and has held the top spot since October 2021. The 26-year-old enjoyed a stellar 2021 campaign and has continued his impressive form into 2022, entering the world top 10 for the first time in his career just last month. Norrie's rise last year saw him win the biggest title of his career at Indian Wells while reaching the third round of three of the four grand slam events. He'll be hoping he can put his first-round defeat at the Australian Open in January behind him at Roland-Garros, although he has never gone beyond the third round at the clay tournament. His preparations have gone to plan so far: he won the ATP 250 Lyon Open last week.
Norrie's campaign ended against Russian Karen Khachanov on Friday, May 27 in the third round. The 10th seed had previously defeated Australian Jason Kubler and French wildcard Manuel Guinard in the first round in straight sets.
Dan Evans
Evans was one part of the trio — alongside Murray and Norrie — to make history this month as three British men made it to the last 16 of an ATP Masters event for the first time at the Madrid Open. Evans was defeated by ninth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime at the Australian Open in January, while he has never before gone beyond the first round in Paris.

Evans' campaign this year ended at the second round in defeat to Swede Mikael Ymer. Evans defeated Argentina's Francisco Cerundolo in straight sets in the first round.
Heather Watson
Watson has never gone beyond the second round at Roland-Garros and currently sits just outside the world's top 100 at 105 in the WTA rankings. The 30-year-old has struggled for form this season and went into the tournament off the back of a 0-6 0-2 defeat to Madison Brengle in Saint-Melo. Things didn't get much better in Paris as she suffered a disappointing straight sets defeat to Elsa Jacquemot of France in her opening match of the tournament.
Harriet Dart
Dart's only victory on clay this season came in the Billie Jean King Cup head of her main-draw French Open debut. The 25-year-old made her breakthrough into the top 100 when she defeated Elina Svitolina and Kaia Kanepi to reach the fourth round in Indian Wells this year. Dart suffered a first-round exit though to former quarter-finalist Martina Trevisan - the Briton won just two games.
