Carlos Alcaraz vs Daniil Medvedev prediction, odds, betting tips and best bets for US Open semifinal image

Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev will battle it out at the semifinal stage of the US Open as both look to claim the final tennis major of the season in New York.

The Spanish superstar enters as the favourite here after he beat out Germany’s Alexander Zverev in straight sets during their quarterfinal meeting on Thursday.

In fact, the 20-year-old two-time major winner has dropped just one set throughout this whole tournament. After receiving a walkover in round one, Alcaraz has since dominated each match to win by 12 sets to one on aggregate against four different players, including Britain’s No. 26 seed Dan Evans.

But this semifinal clash with Medvedev will prove his toughest outing to date at the 2023 tournament.

That’s because the Moscow native enters here after claiming a crushing win over close friend Andrey Rublev at the last-eight stage. That victory came in straight sets as the pair battled it out in blistering heat at Flushing Meadows, something which Medvedev later claimed would cause "a player to die".

With more time to recover following that outing compared to his Spanish opponent here, that could help Medvedev to close in on his first major win but the bookmakers don’t seem to agree as he’s ranked as the outsider for this highly-anticipated match.

Carlos Alcaraz vs. Daniil Medvedev prediction, odds

As expected, defending US Open champion Alcaraz has been made the somewhat heavy favourite in this heavyweight clash.

The Russian star has played some fantastic tennis en route to the final, overcoming his best friend Andrey Rublev in the quarters with relative ease, but Alcaraz remains on another level.

Only dropping one set throughout the tournament, the Spaniard has shown his killer instinct and with the edge in the head-to-head record, it's difficult to look past another win for him here.

These two players have met three times prior, two of which have come in 2023 with Alcaraz winning both encounters in straight sets.

As a result of that recent form, we're going to pick the Spanish native to win this semifinal and take his place in the final alongside either Novak Djokovic or Ben Shelton. You can get Alcaraz at 6/4 to win this match 3-0 with BetOnSports.
