A tired Nick Kyrgios has seen his incredible run of form come to an end with a three-set loss to world no.10 Hubert Hurkacz in the quarter-finals at the Montreal Masters on Friday.

Shooting for his 16th win in his last 17 matches, Kyrgios went down 7-6(4) 6-7(5) 6-1 to the Polish star, with plenty of animosity and tension occurring throughout the contest.

With the match balanced at a set apiece, Kyrgios erupted as Hurkacz went off court for a bathroom break to change his clothes.

“We’re not f***ing machines, bro," Kyrgios said to the umpire.

“We can’t just go and stop, go and stop, go and stop.

"No-one needs to change f***ing clothes in f***ing 15 degree heat.

"15 f***ing degrees bro."

Kyrgios acknowledged post-match that Hurkacz's break was within the rules but it frustrated his fragile body - with the Australian's huge workload of tennis in recent weeks.

"Obviously when you’re playing and you stop for like five to 10 minutes, it doesn’t help your body,” Kyrgios said.

"My body was so stiff after that, I couldn’t move properly.

"I mean, it’s within the rules. I’m not going to complain. I completely stiffened up.

"My body hasn’t been feeling great the last week.

"I was feeling the abdominal (muscle) a little bit before the match. My knees hurt."

Kyrgios' current ranking of 37 will surge into the top 32 after his last eight result in Canada, meaning he will be seeded for the US Open - which commences on August 29.

The 27-year-old has been in a purple patch of form recently, only being stopped from winning Wimbledon by the legendary Novak Djokovic, while he won the Citi Open singles and doubles last week and reached semi-finals at Houston, Halle and Stuttgart.

Prior to his loss against Hurkacz, Kyrgios defeated world No.1 Daniil Medvedev and blitzed highest-ranked Australian Alex de Minaur.

Kyrgios has confirmed he will play in the Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati as he continues his preparation for the US Open.
