England will compete out of Group A at this year’s Rugby League World Cup and will be aiming to go one better than last time out in 2017 when they were beaten in the grand final by Australia.

Coached by Shaun Wane and with a number of NRL stars in their squad, the host nation will fancy themselves to progress top of their group which also contains Samoa.

Here's the full schedule for England in this year's RLWC.

England’s road to the Rugby League grand final

The host nation and Samoa are likely to battle it out to see who claims top spot in the group, with the other side going through as the runner-up.

If England manage to finish in first place, they will face-off against the nation which finished second in Group D.

Tonga is the headline name in that group, with Wales, the Cook Islands and Papua New Guinea likely to be left battling it out for 2nd place.

If they get through that assignment, the English won't be able to avoid Tonga all the way to the grand final with a prospective meeting with them in the business end of the tournament, if they both manage to progress as expected.

Alternatively, if England fail to beat Samoa in their opening group game and finish second, they will face a much tougher run to the final.

The likely scenario then will be they will have to beat Tonga and Samoa back-to-back just to get to the showpiece event at Old Trafford where they could meet New Zealand or Australia.
