Bruno Fernandes celebrates scoring a goal for Manchester United

Manchester United are hoping for a return to the Premier League win column on Wednesday.

The Red Devils have their best chance to secure victory as they host last-place Sheffield United at Old Trafford. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m. ET, 8:00 p.m. local time.

Man United have struggled to find top-four level form all season, and with 12 league losses on the season, the club is barely hanging on to a European place in the standings. Erik ten Hag's side has won one match in its last five games in all competitions, with United needing penalties to overcome Coventry City in the FA Cup semifinal.

Now, Man United could leapfrog Newcastle in the standings and secure a top-seven finish and a Europa League place for next season to ensure that there will be some additional UEFA revenue coming in.

Sheffield United meanwhile are on their last legs, and relegation could be confirmed if they don't pick up wins over Man United in midweek or Newcastle over the weekend. The Blades defense has given up 88 goals already, two away from what would be a record for a whole season, with five games left to go

Manchester United vs Sheffield United prediction, odds

  • Moneyline lean: Manchester United (-300)
  • Score prediction: Manchester United 3-0 Sheffield United

Manchester United haven't lived up to expectations this year, but fans should enjoy themselves at Old Trafford on Wednesday. The Red Devils just have too much attacking talent for them not to completely overwhelm the Sheffield United defense, and you can expect one of Rasmus Hojlund, Bruno Fernandes, or Alejandro Garnacho to score at least one goal.

Manchester United vs Sheffield United best bet

  • Pick: Tied at halftime, Manchester United to win at full time
  • Odds: +320 (BetMGM)

In the last four games in all competitions, Manchester United has scored five goals after halftime. While there isn't a ton of value in a match like this, it is conceivable that a team with a struggling attack (Man United) could take until the second half to wear down Sheffield United before finally finding the breakthrough. And at +320, this is solid value for folks looking to pick up a quick win.

Manchester United vs Sheffield United prop bet

  • Pick: Manchester United Over 3.5 Goals
  • Odds: +200 (BetMGM)

If you're looking to hedge against the bet above, you can find great value in this bet. Sheffield United have already shipped a near record amount of goals, and in their last four matches, the Blades have conceded 11 goals. With the game taking place on the pristine Old Trafford pitch, expect the shouts of "Attack, Attack, Attack" from the crowd to help inspire the team to find the back of the net.
