Manchester City face their penultimate test in the Premier League title race as they travel to London to visit Tottenham, ready to finally cash in on their game in hand at the top of the table.

Arsenal have held the lead in the standings for a number of weeks now, but Man City's game in hand have seen them with the advantage ever since the Gunners slipped against Aston Villa a month ago. Now, they are ready to take the lead in earnest if they can hold serve and prove their worth as favourites to repeat for an unprecedented fourth straight season.

Tottenham supporters, meanwhile, find themselves in the middle of an unwinnable tug-of-war which will give them fits over how they hope this game plays out.

Sitting fifth in the Premier League table, four points back of fourth-placed Aston Villa, Spurs must get some kind of result against City if they wish to have any hope of securing a Champions League place next season. Given they face an eight-goal differential gap between themselves and Villa as well, they in all likelihood need a win here to have a shot at attaining a qualifying position.

However, they will also know that such a beneficial result would also simultaneously see Arsenal take the late lead in the title race with just one matchweek remaining, as their bitter rivals would be overjoyed at such an outcome. Would Spurs fans prefer to see themselves into next season's Champions League or would they sacrifice their own chances at Europe's top competition in exchange for Arsenal's disappointment?

Man City vs Tottenham prediction, odds

  • Moneyline lean: Man City (-250)
  • Score prediction: Tottenham 1-4 Man City

Man City are strong title favourites at this stage, and they will know exactly how to attack this Spurs side, having put forth two quality attacking displays against Tottenham this season. Guglielmo Vicario played a key part in the FA Cup meeting back in January, and they'll need him again in a big way if Spurs wish to have any shot at pulling off an upset.

Goals are expected in this match to such an extent that over 3.5 total is at an outrageous -145 tally, with the under at that inflated total given plus odds, a rare occurrence even in the modern age of attacking football. There's even a massive expectation that Spurs will find the net in a consolation effort, as both teams to score is at -225.

Man City vs Tottenham best bet

  • Pick: Man City over 2.5 total goals
  • Odds: -120 (BetMGM)
  • Pick: Man City to win 1H & over 1.5 goals
  • Odds: +180 (BetMGM)

Tottenham are hopeless at the back, as Ange Postecoglou is as rigid as it comes with regard to tweaking his style for the opponent. Spurs play a high-tempo style which doesn't take a day off even for games against top opponents.

Additionally, the first half struggles for Spurs are well documented at this stage. The last time these two teams met, a late-January FA Cup matchup which saw Man City emerge as 1-0 winners on a late Nathan Ake goal, City should have gone in front in the first half, winning the shot battle 10-0 and putting up 1.01 expected goals (xG) but failing to take their chances. Their reverse league fixture was the same, as City scored two first-half goals as they won the shot count 11-2 and put up 1.64 xG.

Spurs concede goals and chances at will, especially before halftime, and this match should be no different as Man City will look to put the title race firmly to bed as early as possible. You can get Man City over 3.5 goals at +200, which feels enticing, but the lower total provides plenty of value on its own as well.

Man City vs Tottenham prop bet

  • Pick: First half over 5.5 corners
  • Odds: +100 (BetMGM)

Nobody in the Premier League has won more first half corners than Man City, whose 155 corners won before the break this season are 25 more than any other club. Tottenham have won 91 corners before halftime, which puts them eighth, giving this game a great chance at putting up a solid total before the break.

Spurs have given up 115 corners before halftime, fourth-most in the league, and they coughed up four and six to Man City in their two matchups this season. Even money odds here are generous.
