Jurgen Klopp is back in football, but this time, it’s not on the sidelines. The former Liverpool manager has taken on a new role as head of global soccer for Red Bull, starting January 1, 2025.
After waving goodbye to Liverpool in May 2024, Klopp will now oversee Red Bull’s network of clubs, including RB Leipzig, New York Red Bulls, and Brazil’s Red Bull Bragantino.
In his new position, Klopp won’t be getting his famous touchline hugs, but he’ll be guiding the teams from the top. His job will involve shaping the strategic vision for the clubs, supporting their sporting directors, and mentoring coaches.
Red Bull’s CEO Oliver Mintzlaff couldn’t be more excited, calling Klopp “one of the greatest and most influential figures in world soccer.”

'After 25 years' — What Jurgne Klopp said?
For Liverpool fans, this may feel like Klopp’s “second act” after his historic run at Anfield, where he delivered the long-awaited Premier League title, the Champions League, FA Cup, and more.
And while he won’t be managing day-to-day, Klopp’s love for the game is still burning bright. “After 25 years on the sideline, I could not be more excited to get involved in a project like this,” Klopp said.
The former Reds' boss further added: "The role may have changed but my passion for football and the people who make the game what it is has not."
"By joining Red Bull at a global level, I want to develop, improve and support the incredible football talent that we have at our disposal. There are many ways that we can do this from using the elite knowledge and experience that Red Bull possesses to learning from other sports and other industries."
"Together we can discover what is possible. I see my role primarily as a mentor for the coaches and management of the Red Bull clubs but ultimately I am one part of an organisation that is unique, innovative and forward looking. As I said, this could not excite me more."
But here’s the interesting bit: Klopp has a contract clause that could see him jump ship if the Germany national team job opens up after the 2026 World Cup. So, Liverpool fans might be hoping this isn’t his last stop.
For now, Klopp’s journey with Red Bull is taking off. It may not be Anfield, but don’t be surprised if his next chapter is just as thrilling.
