Manchester City return to Premier League action knowing the destiny of a potential fourth-successive title win lies in their hands.

Pep Guardiola's side travel to Brighton four points behind leaders Arsenal but with two games in hand on Mikel Arteta's men.

Roberto De Zerbi's side held City to a 1-1 draw at the Amex Stadium last season and the Seagulls came from 3-2 down to beat 10-man City after Joao Cancelo was sent off in May 2021. However, on both those occasions Guardiola's men had already been crowned champions.

The City boss lambasted the decision to schedule a laboured 1-0 FA Cup semifinal win over Chelsea three days after their Champions League penalty shootout loss to Real Madrid.

Following a more extended break, it remains to be seen whether Guardiola shuffles his pack or asks the same key players to go back to the well again in pursuit of glory.
