Olympics track and field Day 6 results: Quincy Hall wins with stunning comeback, Roje Stona sets discus throw record image

Day 6 of track and field at Stade de France was all about Quincy Hall.

Hall entered as one of the favorites in Wednesday's 400-meter final, but he wasn't running like a favorite until the final 100 meters. As soon as Hall hit the final turn, however, he turned on the jets and rocketed from a distant fourth to first, just barely beating out Great Britain's Matthew Hudson-Smith for gold.

Hall had nothing but a stunned look on his face before he collapsed to the track and let himself soak in the moment.

It was Hall's first Olympic gold medal, and it was also USA's only track and field gold on Wednesday. The Americans did add two silver medals through Kenneth Rooks in the men's 3000m steeplechase and Katie Moon in the women's pole vault.

Jamaica's Roje Stona was one of the day's highlights with an Olympic-record 70-meter discus throw. He took gold, as did Australia's Nina Kennedy in the pole vault and Morocco's Soufiane El Bakkali in the steeplechase.

Noah Lyles also took to the track, qualifying for the 200-meter final and finishing with the third-best time between all semifinal heats.
