Tyreek Hill was the Dolphins' biggest playmaker during the first game of the 2024 NFL season, and there was a reason he entered the game with a bit extra juice.
Hill revealed during his postgame news conference that he was "pissed off" after he was detained by police just hours before Miami's Week 1 game against the Jaguars.
"I was f—ing teed up," Hill told reporters of his energy on the field. "I was fired up."
Hill's detainment captured the attention of NFL fans everywhere, and many likened it to Scottie Scheffler's arrest before Round 2 of the 2024 PGA Championship.
Hill wasn't able to address the incident before the game, but after it, he opened up about his experience and how it impacted him during Miami's 20-17 win over Jacksonville.

Tyreek Hill comments on police detainment
Hill offered a few details about his interaction with the Miami-Dade police before Sunday's game. He revealed during a postgame interview that an officer told him he was speeding and recklessly driving, per NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe.
Hill claimed that he didn't disrespect or cuss out the officer. When told about an officer being placed on administrative leave, he simply stated, "That tells you all you need to know."
Hill also addressed the incident in an on-field interview immediately after Miami's win. He didn't offer much insight into it and seemed to imply he was trying to quickly move past it.
"I'm not gonna comment on any of that," Hill told CBS' Melanie Collins. "We're just gonna let bygones be bygones, move on and learn from it."

That said, Hill praised his teammates for quickly coming to his aid while his detainment was unfolding.
"I loved that. I was f—ing fired up," Hill said. "To see Jonnu [Smith], to see Calais [Campbell], right there in the heat of the battle there with me — that goes to show that it's more than about football. The brotherhood that we've got outside of football is amazing. Because those dudes were risking their lives for me."

Campbell revealed during a postgame interview that he was handcuffed while trying to help his teammate out. The 38-year-old said the police were using "excessive force" and called the detainment "definitely unnecessary."
The police's body camera footage was revealed Monday, and it backed what both Hill and Campbell had to say on that matter.

As such, it's easy to understand why his teammates' actions meant so much to Hill. Their support is also part of the reason that he didn't let the surprising confrontation impact his on-field abilities Sunday.
"At the end of the day, I've got a job to do," Hill said. "And my job is to come inside this stadium and be great."
Hill posted seven catches for 130 yards and a touchdown. Mission accomplished.
